Licensing Tiers & Rights

Choose the license that matches your project's distribution.

Every license on DenSyte is structured around two decisions: Usage Tier (how you will use the footage) and Exclusivity (whether you need to prevent others from licensing the same clip).

Part 1: Select Your Usage Tier

Choose the tier that matches your project's distribution.

Non-Commercial

Definition: Factual, educational, or reporting use where footage is NOT used to sell a product or service.

Includes:

  •  News reporting
  • Educational videos (museums, universities)
  • Research organizations
  • NGO educational content (strictly non-promotional)
  • Academic publications

Commercial (Marketing & Promotion)

Definition: Footage used to persuade, promote, advertise, or fundraise—regardless of organization type.

Includes:

  • Brand videos & advertising
  • Social media marketing campaigns
  • Tourism board videos
  • Corporate presentations
  • NGO fundraising campaigns
  • Promotional web content

Broadcast (TV, Film, Global Distribution)

Definition: Long-form storytelling and distribution platforms. This tier automatically includes all Commercial rights.

Includes:

  • Documentary programs
  • Streaming platforms (Netflix, Disney+, etc.)
  • TV broadcast (network, cable)
  • Theatrical release

Part 2: Select Your Exclusivity

Once you have chosen a tier, determine if you need to "lock out" other productions.

Non-Exclusive (Standard)

The Default Choice

  • You are granted the rights to use the footage based on your selected Tier.
  • The Cinematographer retains the right to license the same footage to other clients.

Best for: Most productions, background b-roll, and projects where unique ownership is not critical.

Exclusive (Premium)

The "Lock-Out" Choice

  • You purchase the rights to use the footage exclusively for a set duration (e.g., 5 years, perpetuity).
  • The Cinematographer agrees not to license this specific clip to any other party during your term.

Best for: Title sequences, "hero" shots, major ad campaigns, or signature behavior sequences where you want to ensure no competitor can use the same image.

Note: Exclusive rights typically command a higher license fee and may be negotiated directly via the platform.
